PVAMU Mourns A Great Loss

Prairie View A&M University mourns the death of Professor and Director of Bands George Edwards. He directed PVAMU’s world renowned Marching Storm Band for 30 years, before his death on May 28.

Affectionately known around campus as “Prof Edwards”, Edwards first arrived at Prairie View A&M in 1978. Under his tenure, the university’s Marching Storm Band entertained audiences around the U.S. and the world and developed a reputation for its unique sound. Prairie View A&M’s band, once known as the “Funky 50,” was renamed under Edwards’ leadership and vision in 1984. Today, the Marching Storm is now considered among the most dynamic and skilled bands in the world for its unparalleled musical artistry, and electrifying and adventurous drum line which is showcased during each performance. Many music scholars attribute the growing popularity of drum line techniques to Edwards and Prairie View A&M.

“On behalf of the entire PVAMU community, we offer our deepest condolences to the entire Edwards family. For three decades we were fortunate to have George contribute to our community and nurture the talent of our student performers,” states PVAMU President George C. Wright.

lol Stories of the Day

"Today, I moved out of my apartment and thought it would be nice to leave the roll of toilet paper in the bathroom for the next tenant. I later got a notice from the management that I was being charged $50 for leaving behind "personal items."

"Today, I bought a top with some other things. I went to the restroom and had diarrhea, but there was no toilet paper in the stall. I had to use the receipt from the store. I then realized the clerk hadn't put the top in the bag. I needed that receipt to get the top."

"Today, while getting ready for work I realized all my pants were getting a bit tight. When I got home from work I went in to the bathroom and stood on the scale which confirmed I have gained a few pounds. I then realized that I was eating while standing on the scale."

Let It Flo`

She's right. Everyone has their own type of flaws. Mine is not sharing my feelings as much as I need to. My friend and I had a discussion about relationships and games. In my last piece, "A Love Facing A Dead End", I talked about how people play games. A these games even last through the relationship.
"Oh she took 3 hours to call me back, so i'll return her in 2 days"
"If he's not going to speak first, then i'm not going to speak first"
"I love him, but i'll wait till he says it first"
"I like her, but what if she doesn't like me? Ok, one day i'll tell her"

Are you suffering from a case of rejection-fobia also known as minor bitchassness? Well, one thing me and my friend discussed was that REJECTION is apart of life. It gives you room to learn from those type of situations. It gives you the opportunity to look inward and question yourself and how you carry yourself. Maybe your are too uptight, lazy, conceited, selfish, wicked, irresponsible, or obtain other character flaws.

We grow each day due to each customized situation that our day brings us. We are making constant decisions that will affect our lives. Choosing the right guy/girl could change your life for the better or for the worse. Yet, at the end of the day there will be a lesson learned.

If God wanted you to meet your destined husband/wife on the first time you have ever spoken or liked a guy/girl, they it would have been so. Just like that. Look at Adam, just like that he met Eve didn't he.

I speak these words because most of you guys/girls are on the same chapter as I am. I too ask myself, where are all the real men at? ..or where is MY man at? And I like YOU, God is still workin on me. And I think i'll just let him do his job, and stop rushing him, or even trying to do his job for him.

Nothing GOOD comes EASY..

An Enchanted Encounter..

As an onlooker, whether male or female, he'd received a second look. Upon a second look, I'm sure he reads all the clouds written with compliments floating on the side of peoples' heads.

I personally observed him, analyzing and scrutinizing him from head to toe. Please excuse my eyes because they were all over his sculpture, gently taking in what was in front of me.

...ohh

the river flowing on top of his head splished with splash so uncontrollably, that only Moses himself could control it

...la la

"Whussup ?" he asked.

His smile as priceless as the brain signals to his mouth that told him he wanted to smile. la la. When he proceeded to hug me, the aroma of his cologne trailed up to the tip of the hair follicles in my cute little nose. I hugged him back, and I closed my eyes as if I could close the moment in my lids, sealing the moment with a new era sticker, i'd pull my brim low so no one could tell what my eyes were doing. lala When he let go, my reality shot electric messengers throughout my brain waves, signaling to "stop smiling so hard". We discussed little subjects for awhile, and the whole while stayed the contagious smile on his face. This man was blessed with some beautiful teeth to which were gracious enough to share their sight with me. His whole stance was postal stamped with approval noted "Greetings from the Land of Handsomeness." Facial features finely chizzzeled with more z's then a hibernating bear. Skin as smooth as a candy painted car with inspirations from laffy taffy, sitting in the MAACO body shop. Moreover, his voice, combined with his grammar was as smooth as a player/pimp. Not to mention, he had humor. Punch lines kicked and pushed through my mind while Lupe wrote them down. My lips finely disributing laughs into the air, pleasant to his ears because it showed he wasn't corny. You know stale jokes get a forced giggle.

His movements and actions during our encounter interested me as I peeped him over tom's shoulder. I'd jotted a mental note in my mind to hit myself for not getting to know him sooner but his smile scribbled a ;-) onto my note.

For the rest of the night, my mind still resided on this precisely maintenanced flyy aircraft, call em A1; he was sittin real Good like presidents riding on the Air force One. A gift that gives lessons, showing examples to the male breed 'showin em how its supposed to be done'. I got home that night, thoughts getting charged for roaming. I slept, to later be interrupted as a text message came through my cellular. My eyes darted into the flashing lights. He texted me and naturally I smiled.

This enchanting time we spent in each others presence added lots of smiles, with which I rather not have subtracted, but added to. A clean, respectful, and well mannered man stood before me. A priceless moment is taking time to write this, but also a priceless moment is me knowing he just read this.

Just Think'n about ..

Africa ny Africa. You are truly misunderstood and taken advantage of.

People rob you of your minerals
Steal your ideas
Steal your Gold
Steal your Oil
Take your People
Take your strength
Copy and paste your music
Mark your people
Destroy their minds
Force them to forget you

All with the purpose to just try to duplicate you. Yet they will never accomplish their mission. Whatever they may take still leaves your with an endless supply. Your people are still surviving, still smiling, still thriving, and they can't do shit about it.

But what can you do about it? You are abundantly blessed with great minerals, people, music, and many other things. But should that force other people to want to rob you of it? I say they will eventually get theirs in the end. Just don't worry your course but pretty little head about it. Nigerians are rated the Happiest People in the World. I'm sure you're proud. Poor but still smiling. What else can we do.

Africa, I love you and admire your perseverance.
Your People
Minerals
Oil
Gold
Music
Really everything there is to say about you.
Most especially how you have produced a wonderful culture that I will forever tell the world about. Thank God and Thank You.

Demonic figure at Democratic Debate?

I just though this was interesting. If you look between the candidates, on the back screen, you can see an image of a goat's head, or a demon. This image is not just visible on this still photo... it was visible on the live video of the debate!

The Illuminati / Freemason Conspiracy

Over the past month or so, I have researched the subject of the "Illuminati" and the "Freemason". I ran across a website that had most of the information that I needed to know. Read carefully.....

Notice the numbers under the pyramid

There are 13 leaves on the left olive branch with 13 berries. 13 stripes on the middle shield. 13 arrows on the right. 13 stars above the eagles head. 13 letters in the "E Pluribus Unum" on the ribbon. 13 letters in Annuit Coeptis. There are 13 blocks top to bottom on the pyramid. The Roman Numerals at the bottom of the Pyramid: MDCCLXXVI

Now you would normally read that as 1776, which is correct. THAT IS THE "OBVIOUS" MEANING OF THOSE LETTERS. But what is the HIDDEN NUMERICAL VALUE OF THOSE LETTERS? And what if we took all of the Roman Numerals together and added them up? The Romans used the following letters for their number system: DCLXVI with D=500, C=100, L=50, X=10, V=5, nd I - 1. The M letter was not used until much later. Now if we take these letters and add them all up, we come to 666. If we take them as Scripture gives the number, we come up with this in descending order:

New Artist: ASA

Asa was born in Paris. Her early life in the City of Light left the little girl with only the vaguest of (happy) memories, since she was no more than two years old when her family returned to live in Nigeria. Paris was just one stage in the life of her courageous and hard-working parents. But her fate was tied up with the city: it was to Paris that Asa returned twenty years later and where her life as an artist took wing.

Asa grew up in Lagos, a city teeming with people and buzzing with energy but also home to a deep-rooted spirituality. Islam thrives shoulder to shoulder with Christianity in an atmosphere of tolerance, the young imitate America, and the turbulent city moves endlessly in an infernal and yet harmonious ballet of love and hate, laughter and violence, poverty and wealth.
“Lagos is the New York of Nigeria. If you want to get anywhere in music, that’s where you’ll find the best opportunities, as well as the worst pitfalls.”

Her music takes me back home. Listen up though, she is carrying out a message to the world. Also, some of her songs are in Yoruba (native Nigerian tribal language. Enjoy

Africa, like a bubbling melting pot at the heart of today’s most exciting musical movements…
Africa, like a cry of rebellion ringing in your ears…
Africa, like an enduring mark on all the television screens of the world…
Africa, like…

this is too GAYY!

Before I saw the video, I heard it all over TWITTER @gunflashh [follow me]... so I had to see what all the hype was about. And as you have it, this N is grindin' and twerkin' and rollin' his hips, a lil too much. If he would have hit that famous gay "bounce" that my gay friends tell me to look out for, then i'd definitely would've had a fit. Oh and shout out to all the guys that took time out to watch this video today.

HERE IS AN EXTRA!

I laugh my ass off when I saw this extra gay shit. He CLEARLY planned this video to the T. C'mon now, where did that damn kiwi come from?? Oh really, a BELLY ROLL? At least he wasn't rockin his hips like Spec. Lol @ that thump when his feet hit the wall. Yeah, and not to mention the SOUND is even terrible... Nice try pee-wee. You did out-gay Spec.

Lagos, Nigeria: A New Look

The Governor of Lagos has really put in major work for the city to look like this. On my trip last summer, I heard too many tragic stories about fatal accidents involving the "okada" or motorcycle drivers that give people lifts to their destinations. None of them ever wore helmets, and now the governor is enforcing it.

Besides that, look at the landscape. Manicured lawns everywhere. Word is he's letting prisoners work to help clean the streets up to speed up their time. And what about transportation? The chartered buses look comfortable, opposed to the ones that I saw when I was there last summer. They were ragged and very uncomfortable looking. Now these buses are equipped with A/C and comfortable seats.

I commend the governor on his good work. He really cares about Lagos, and it really shows.
